If you’ve been utilizing your Facebook page to drive organic traffic for the past few years, you may have found it challenging to consistently achieve desirable results.
Often, you might feel that your performance metrics should be far better than they currently are.
Upon analysis, you could be left wondering if your Facebook page isn’t large enough, if the engagement on the posts you share is lacking, and ultimately, unsure about what steps to take next or where to focus your efforts to make it work.
Before deciding to write about this subject, I conducted research and found that the advice available from top Google searches was, at best, mediocre.
Suggestions such as promoting your Facebook page on your blog or other social networks were unremarkable and failed to provide any real value to readers.
As a result, I’ve decided to create the ultimate guide on how to genuinely increase your website’s Facebook traffic.
The success of your Facebook page depends on three main parts:
- The SIZE of your Facebook page
- The QUALITY of the content you create and share on your Facebook page
- The QUANTITY of high-quality content you can produce and share on your Facebook page
The SIZE of your Facebook page and how to grow it
There are two methods for growing your Facebook page: paid and organic.
As with many things in life, the paid approach is often more efficient and quicker. If you have a budget to invest, this is undoubtedly the route you should take.
With over seven years of experience using Facebook ads and having spent seven figures on various ad campaigns, I’ve discovered that the most effective way to grow your Facebook page is by using a LIKE campaign.
To set up a Like campaign for your Facebook page in the Ads Manager, start by selecting the “Engagement” campaign type.
Once your campaign is created, choose “Facebook page” as the conversion option.
The ultimate objective of this campaign is to obtain the maximum number of likes at the lowest possible cost, targeting an audience passionate about our niche so that we can share our content with them.
Your success depends on three important things:
a) Campaign budget
Your budget usually depends on your personal preferences and how aggressively you want to scale and grow your Facebook page.
I always recommend starting small. Allocate a daily budget of $5-10 for your initial campaigns.
This budget is sufficient to determine if your campaign is effective and whether you should continue running it, or stop it and create alternative versions.
b) Target audience
Based on numerous tests I’ve conducted, the most effective way to target your audience is by focusing on broad interests within your niche. For example, if your website is related to dogs and you want to attract US traffic, target a US audience with Dogs as an interest.
It’s also a good idea to experiment with different versions, such as targeting narrower interests like specific dog breeds.
However, in most cases, targeting broad interests will yield the best results (the lowest cost per like).
c) Creating an ad
The third and most crucial aspect is the appearance of your ad, which can be broken down into two parts:
- Image
The first rule for your ad is to include an image that is contextually relevant to your target audience.
For instance, if your website is in the dog niche, your ad should feature an image of a dog.
The second rule is that the image must evoke a “wow” effect, capturing the attention of your target audience. Your dog image could be cute, unusual, or anything that prompts your audience to stop scrolling and focus on your ad.
- Description
This section, located above your image, should be used as a call to action, inviting your audience to like your page. You should test various versions to determine which one delivers the best performance for your ad.
A popular approach that many people have found successful is to use a phrase like this: “If you love [your niche], then LIKE this page.”
In the end, your ad should resemble the following example:
I’d like to share a few valuable tips from my experience, which you’ll likely discover after using this method for a short while:
- Test as many ads as possible with a small budget.
A $5 campaign is sufficient to determine if an ad is effective or not. Experiment with various images and descriptions. While my preferred targeting approach is to focus on a broad niche, you should probably test that for yourself as well.
Avoid making assumptions about which image or description works best. You might be surprised by the results (trust me, I speak from experience).
- Test only one variation at a time.
This means that if you want to determine the best description, use two or more ads with the same image and target audience, and only change the description.
You can apply the same process to your images, keeping everything else the same across multiple ads and testing different image variations.
- Don’t scale up too quickly.
Scaling ads can be challenging. If you attempt to increase your $5 campaign to $50, your cost per like may rise. Scaling is necessary with this method, but do it gradually, day by day. Also, try to identify a few well-performing ads and scale them up slowly.
- As your Facebook page grows, it’s normal for the cost per like to increase.
For example, if your cost per like rises from $0.04 to $0.07 as you grow your Facebook page to over 100K, that’s fairly typical. Even at that price, your ROI would be incredibly good (at least 5X in the long run).
So, you might be wondering:
What’s a good price per LIKE?
As John Mueller from Google often says, and many marketers dislike, the answer is: IT DEPENDS.
It truly does.
Many factors can influence this, making it difficult to provide a definitive answer. Some important factors to consider include your niche, its popularity, the number of competitors, and the time of year.
Based on my experience, here are my opinions on specific guidelines:
- Anything below $0.05 per like is INCREDIBLY good.
- A range of $0.05 to $0.1 per like is REALLY good.
- A range between $0.1 and $0.2 per like is acceptable, but improvements could be made.
- Above $0.2 per like, major improvements are definitely needed.
Once you’ve created campaigns and your Facebook page is growing, it’s time to move on to the second part.
The QUALITY of the content you create and share on your Facebook page
Regardless of the size of your Facebook page, if your content doesn’t resonate with your audience or generate strong engagement, your results will be disappointing.
That’s why this aspect is so vital to the entire process.
I will share my content strategy with you, along with 3 essential steps I use to create highly engaging content for my Facebook pages and drive an incredible amount of traffic:
1. Idea
If you already have content on your website, you should definitely share it and see what kind of results you get.
In most cases, those results may not be impressive, but don’t worry, that’s fine.
By implementing these three steps, you’ll see significantly better results and drive more traffic.
The first thing to consider is the type of content that will resonate most with your audience.
Similar to SEO strategies, the best initial step is to visit your competitors’ pages and identify which content is performing well for them. The assumption is that if such content performs well on their Facebook pages, it will likely perform exceptionally on your website too.
Tip: Don’t simply copy an entire article from your competitor; that’s not a good practice. Instead, borrow their idea and create unique content that’s at least as good as theirs.
I used this tactic on my Facebook pages to generate over 4 million+ visits from Facebook to my websites each month.
The tool we’ve created and use daily for this purpose is Strevio.
With our “Intelligence” feature, you can analyze any competitor’s page, choose any time frame, and discover the best-performing content they’ve posted on Facebook.
After registering, navigate to “Intelligence” and create a list of your competitors.
I recommend starting by analyzing a few competitors so you can discover the top-performing posts on their Facebook pages and gather plenty of ideas for creating content.
Here’s what it looks like:
2. Title and Featured Image
These are among the most crucial elements in determining your post’s performance on Facebook.
Similar to the idea aspect, my top recommendation is to use Strevio to analyze your competitors’ post titles and featured images, and determine which types are yielding the best results for them.
Take it one step further and analyze some popular Facebook pages that aren’t in your niche with Strevio. This will help you quickly identify which concepts are working best for them and why they’re achieving such impressive results.
3. Description
Be sure to test various versions of the description above your Facebook posts, as it can significantly impact your engagement and click-through rates.
In my experience, a single sentence from the article that intrigues the audience tends to work best.
Similarly, as with ideas, titles, and featured images, analyze your competitors to see what works best for them. You’ll get some great inspiration from there.
Don’t overthink it; in the end, testing different types of descriptions will help you find the perfect fit for your posts over time.
I have two tips for you about this part:
First, try using AI tools like Chat GPT or Koala to create articles. From my experience, it can work well and make content creation faster, though you may need to add a human touch for higher quality standards.
Second, use Strevio to analyze your content’s performance and post articles in different versions (with different titles, images, and descriptions) to see which performs best.
Once you’ve grown your Facebook page and created amazing good content for your audience, there’s just one final step to complete the circle perfectly.
The QUANTITY of high-quality content you can produce and share on your Facebook page
When it comes to how much content you should post on your Facebook page, my advice is simple: the more, the better. Rarely do pages succeed by posting just 1-2 times per week, unless they are already extremely popular or have exclusive content.
For most of us, posting multiple times per day is necessary for success. As for how many times you should post per day, it depends on your content strategy, but generally 4-5 times per day is a good amount.
Now, you may be wondering how to produce that much content if you don’t have enough articles on your website.
There’s a solution that can work to your advantage if you can’t produce enough articles for your Facebook page. Many successful Facebook pages repost their best-performing posts multiple times. You can use Strevio to analyze your own page and find the content that performs the best, which you can schedule for republishing.
This part of the strategy is responsible for the majority of my success, as it drives 80% of traffic. I recommend reposting your top-performing content once a month, but you can experiment with different frequencies.
By completing this step, you’ll be well-equipped to drive more traffic to your website from Facebook.
I hope this post has been helpful to you, as I’ve shared all the steps and methods I use on my Facebook pages to generate over 4 million visits every month.
